Introduction

The participants in this anterior composite course will be able to repair both minor and major anterior tooth defects in a predictable and consistent way, making the restoration look like the original tooth. In order for the practitioner to confidently restore a variety of flaws, a theory pertaining to composite resins will be discussed, but a strong focus will be placed on the practical side.

  3.  Restore class IV cavities with predictability.
  4.  Fabricate direct composite veneers

  7.  Creating anatomically contact points with matrices
  8.  Appraise different bonding agents

Course Content:

  • Classification of Bonding agents
  • Shade taking – using different methods of taking shade predictably
  • Relating shades of teeth to composites
  • Moisture Control
  • Anatomy of teeth – identifying various features on incisors, laterals and canines and reproducing them with composites
  • Incremental build-up techniques: labiopalatal and palatolabial techniques
  • Use of tints for recreating incisal halo, fluorosis effects and crack lines etc
  • Different matrices for creating proximal walls
  • Polishing of composites predictably and consistently to high luster
  • Clinical case studies will be shown covering class IV restorations, diastema closures, composite veneers, tooth wear and restoring discoloured teeth
  • Practicals covering diastema closures, Class IV cavities, smile makeovers, veneers, incised edge bonding and restoring the worn anterior teeth using direct freehand techniques using different silicone matrices will be covered

12:30 pm – 13:30 pm Lunch
13:30 pm – 14:45 pm Practical session 1: step by step build up four worn upper incisors
15:00 pm – 16:00 pm Practical session 2: step by step build up four worn upper incisors

Dr Nadeem Younis

President of The British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (BAAD)

Dr. Nadeem Younis qualified in 1993 from the University of Sheffield and joined Bridge Dental Practice in 1994 and became a partner in 1997. He has been running courses on cosmetic dentistry since 1999.

He has completed courses in orthodontics (straightening crooked teeth), restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. His commitment to postgraduate education led to the award of the Diploma in General Dental Practice from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1996 and the Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from the University of Bristol in 2007. In 2016, he was awarded an MSc from Bristol University after completing a 2-year research project.
