Learning Objectives
1. Demonstrate Proficiency in Operative Procedures
Candidates will be able to perform a range of dental operative procedures on an Eastman institute standard dental manikin, including cavity preparations, veneer and crown preparations, restorations, and, adhering to best practices and safety protocols.
2. Understand and Apply Clinical Knowledge
Candidates will develop a comprehensive understanding of clinical concepts related to restorative dentistry, including material selection, tooth anatomy, and the principles of cavity preparation.
3. Enhance Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking Skills
Candidates will learn to assess clinical scenarios presented during manikin exercises and apply critical thinking to solve problems effectively; all this while performing in a timed environment.
4. Improve Communication Skills
Candidates will practice effective communication techniques, including explaining procedures to patients (simulated by instructors) and discussing treatment plans clearly.
Course Description
The ORE Part 2 manikin course is comprised of the following components that are divided over a period of 3 days:
DAY 1
- Veneer Preparation (Central incisor, Canine)
- PFM Preparation (Central incisor, Canine, Premolar)
- Full Gold crown Preparation
DAY 2
- Cavity preparations (Class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
- Liner placement
- Restorations (Amalgam and Composite)
DAY 3
- Access opening and Root Canal
- Treatment
- Temporary crown fabrication
- Putty Impressions
- Occlusal Rest seats
